SHS Plan for Addressing Bullying


Southport High School will address Bullying and Harassment in the following manner:

  • Social worker and Guidance Counselors will provide ongoing staff education and will present to all faculty members on Monday, October 7, 2013.  Please click here to view part 1 of the presentation and part 2 of the presentation.
  • A student created anti-bullying video based on information from the Social worker and Guidance Counselors will air on SPTV on Wednesday, October 9, 2013.  (Click here to view)
  • Social Worker and Guidance Counselors will present to individual classrooms upon request.
  • SHS will continue to monitor our anonymous bully reporting hotline (789-4880), separate from the 3905 and 3906 PTEC hotlines.
  • The process for reporting potential instances of bullying is communicated in classrooms, the Signpost, the school website and various other locations throughout the building.
  • Social worker will monitor the hotline and work with counselors to disseminate information and provide assistance to victims.
  • Social worker and counselors will provide information to administration regarding students who are reported as bullies.
  • Administrators will respond with appropriate discipline.
  • All alleged incidents of bullying are documented by the Social worker and/or Guidance Counselors.  All documentatoin is kept in a centralized location in order to track repeat reoprts and/or patterns of behavior.
  • SHS is promoting the National Bullying Prevention month (October) and is encouraging students, staff, parents and community members to particpate in “Unity Day” on Wednesday, October 22, 2014.  SHS will participate in this event on Wednesday, October 8, 2014 due to Fall Intercession on October 22nd.
