The Journal won awards at both the state and national high school journalism conventions, which were held locally last weekend.
At the state convention on Thursday, last year’s Journal was named an honorable mention Hoosier Star winner, placing it among the top six large-school newspapers in the state.
At the national convention on Friday, competing against high school journalists from across the nation, five journal staff members won awards in the on-site contests.  Drew Tapp won an Excellent award in the Press Law and Ethics contest. Four others won Honorable Mention awards.  They were Jazlynn Stone in Poetry, Sarah McAtee in Editorial Cartooning, Madeline Hittel in Review Writing, and Rae Updike in Sports Writing.
Congratulations, Journal staff!
